so whats going to happen to the industry when a large proportion of tradesmen and women chuck in the towel and find other jobs outwith housebuilding? There are precious few apprentices. Are we going we going to be flooded with eastern europeans?

Are you a racist?
In my experience the Eastern Europeans do a much better job, are extremely polite, well mannered and co operative and make managing a building site a pleasure.
I would rather deal with them.
If trades are going to be lost to the industry those that are left will be able to name their price, just like they do in each boom.
